Future Designs
Designing knitwear patterns is a long process, from conceptualization, sample knitting, pattern writing, grading, testing, and rewriting before the final release. Knitwear design is a cycle, and throughout the many stages involved in the creation of knitting patterns, new designs emerge. Here you can find the latest design ideas, future patterns, and current samples being knit up that will make it into the Pearl by Rae knitwear pattern collection.
The Thalia Sweater is an all over lace drop-shoulder sweater with slight balloon sleeves. This design features an elegant repeating lace motif with a delicate picot edge hem, collar, and cuffs, allowing for the sweater to be both breathable and warm. The construction of this pattern is knit in the round from the bottom up, beginning with the body, before splitting for armholes and working the front and back halves flat. The shoulders are seamed together to complete the body. The sleeves are knit in the round bottom up and seamed to the arm holes of the body. Finally, the picot edge collar is worked in the round on the body neckline.
Status: Currently in testing, to be released end of June / early July 2025.
The Astraea Top is a lace knit tank top perfect for a warm spring day and the summer sun. This design features two intricate repeating lace motifs across the entire piece, a scalloped crochet edge, and a delicate picot hem. This pattern is entirely customizable to your unique preferences and needs, with options for an open front or closed front top, or bralette, with numerous options for the hem and edge details to match your style. The construction of this top is knit top down by working two cup panels and connecting them by casting on for the back with the option to work flat or in the round for an open front or closed front, respectively. The picot or folded hem is worked once the desired length of the body has been reached. The straps are picked up along the cup panel cast on edge and double knit to your preferred length and seamed to the back. Finally, the optional crochet edge is worked along your preferred edges - the button band, cup panel edges, and back cast on edge.
Status: Test knit May 23rd - July 18th
